Bu kongre sayesinde \u0130zmir\u0092in tarihini daha iyi \u00f6\u011frenecek ve de\u011ferlerini daha iyi anlayaca\u011f\u0131z.\u0094 diye konu\u015ftu. \u0130zmir\u0092in T\u00fcrk Cumhuriyet tarihinde \u00e7ok \u00f6nemli bir yere sahip oldu\u011funu kaydeden E\u00dc Edebiyat Fak\u00fcltesi Dekan\u0131 Prof. Dr. Altan \u00c7ilingiro\u011flu ise, \u0093T\u00fcrkiye\u0092nin siyasi ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra ekonomik ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kazanmas\u0131nda \u0130zmir\u0092in yeri \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fckt\u00fcr. Emperyalist g\u00fc\u00e7lerin i\u015fgaline kar\u015f\u0131 ilk direni\u015f \u0130zmir\u0092de ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
