Kitapta Giritli T\u00fcrklerin sosyal ve k\u00fclt\u00fcrel ya\u015famlar\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra, zorunlu m\u00fcbadele hikayeleri, Ada&#8217;da o d\u00f6nem b\u00fcy\u00fck etkisi olan Bekta\u015filik, yemek k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc, \u015fiirler, t\u00fcrk\u00fc ve destanlar, an\u0131lar gibi ilgin\u00e7 konular, 200&#8217;den fazla foto\u011fraf, grav\u00fcr, resim gibi zengin g\u00f6rsellerle birlikte okurun ilgisine sunuluyor. Kitapta, Girit&#8217;ten \u0130zmir&#8217;e g\u00f6\u00e7 etmi\u015f ailelerle ilgili b\u00f6l\u00fcmler de bulunuyor. Kitab\u0131n yazar\u0131 Ali Ekrem Erkal, kitab\u0131 haz\u0131rlarken hep ilk kaynaklardan yararlanmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 vurgulayarak, &#8220;Giritli T\u00fcrklerin belleklerinde bulunan olaylar\u0131 ve de\u011ferleri, ara\u015ft\u0131rma, belleksel, g\u00f6rsel ve yaz\u0131msal al\u0131nt\u0131larla bu kitapta toplamaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131m.
