Daha sonra da bu t\u00fcr foto\u011fraflar\u0131n hemen t\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fcn alt\u0131ndaki yorumlarda g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz gibi ahlar ve vahlarla dolu &#8220;Kim k\u0131yd\u0131 bu kadar g\u00fczel bir binaya?&#8221; yak\u0131nmalar\u0131 s\u00fcrer gider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Konak olarak s\u00f6z etti\u011fimiz, Atat\u00fcrk Meydan\u0131 merkezli b\u00f6lge, uzun y\u0131llar \u0130zmir&#8217;in kamusal anlamda da \u0130zmir&#8217;i kalbi olmu\u015ftur. Eski i\u015flevselli\u011fini k\u0131smen yitirmi\u015f olsa bile, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde de \u0130zmir&#8217;in kalbi olma \u00f6zelli\u011fini s\u00fcrd\u00fcrmektedir. Y\u0131llar \u00f6nce Yeni As\u0131r gazetesinde &#8220;\u0130zmir&#8217;in Kalbi Konak&#8221; diye ba\u015flad\u0131\u011f\u0131m, bu b\u00f6lge ile ara\u015ft\u0131rmalar\u0131mda say\u0131s\u0131z yaz\u0131 yazd\u0131m. Bu yaz\u0131larda b\u00f6lgedeki bir\u00e7ok yap\u0131n\u0131n da belgelere dayal\u0131 tarih\u00e7esinden s\u00f6z etmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131m. H\u00fck\u00fcmet Kona\u011f\u0131, Sar\u0131k\u0131\u015fla, Katipzade Kona\u011f\u0131, Yal\u0131 Camii, Milli K\u00fct\u00fcphane, Milli Sinema, \u0130zmir Hapishanesi ve Atat\u00fcrk Meydan\u0131 bu yazd\u0131klar\u0131m i\u00e7inde birka\u00e7 kez konu ba\u015fl\u0131\u011f\u0131 olmu\u015f yap\u0131lard\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bu yaz\u0131da da bir gazeteci dosta verdi\u011fim s\u00f6z\u00fc yerine getirerek, belgelerin \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131nda \u0130dadi \/ Adliye binas\u0131ndan s\u00f6z etmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015faca\u011f\u0131m. Ancak \u00f6ncelikle &#8220;\u0130dadi&#8221;nin ne oldu\u011funu a\u00e7\u0131klamak gerekir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Bir \u015feyi haz\u0131rlamaya ait ya da uygun yer&#8221; anlam\u0131na gelen &#8220;\u0130dadi&#8221; s\u00f6zc\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fcn ilk olarak Tanzimat d\u00f6neminin ilk y\u0131llar\u0131na kadar Bat\u0131 tarz\u0131nda a\u00e7\u0131lan okullar\u0131n haz\u0131rl\u0131k s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 i\u00e7in kullan\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr. Daha sonra 1847 y\u0131l\u0131nda faaliyete ge\u00e7en r\u00fc\u015fdiyelere \u00f6\u011frenci haz\u0131rlamaya ayr\u0131lan s\u0131byan mekteplerine de idadi denilir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczdeki liselerin dengi ya da kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 olarak a\u00e7\u0131lan idadiler, ba\u015flang\u0131\u00e7ta askeri ve m\u00fclki (sivil) y\u00fcksek okullara \u00f6\u011frenci yeti\u015ftirmeye y\u00f6nelik \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 bak\u0131m\u0131ndan iki gruba ayr\u0131labilir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1844 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar Bahriye, M\u00fchendishane, T\u0131bbiye ve Harbiye gibi askeri okullara \u00f6\u011frenci haz\u0131rlayan bir orta \u00f6\u011fretim kurumu yoktur. Bu nedenle buralara al\u0131nan \u00f6\u011frenciler nitelikli e\u011fitim alabilecek d\u00fczeyde de\u011fildir. \u00d6zellikle Mekteb-i Harbiye mezunlar\u0131, ald\u0131klar\u0131 uzun e\u011fitime ra\u011fmen k\u0131talarda gerekli g\u00f6revi alacak niteli\u011fe sahip olamamaktad\u0131r. Bu s\u0131k\u0131nt\u0131 fark edilince, 1845 y\u0131l\u0131nda, askeri okullara al\u0131nacak \u00f6\u011frencilerin daha \u00f6nce bir haz\u0131rl\u0131k okulunda e\u011fitilmeleri kararla\u015ft\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnceyle de ayn\u0131 y\u0131l i\u00e7inde Osmanl\u0131 e\u011fitim reformunu planlamak \u00fczere kurulan Meclis-i Maarif-i Muvakkat, baz\u0131 kararlar al\u0131r. Buna g\u00f6re askeri okullardaki derslere haz\u0131rl\u0131k i\u00e7in \u00fclkenin on iki yerinde Mekteb-i F\u00fcn\u00fcn-\u0131 \u0130dadiye ad\u0131yla okullar a\u00e7\u0131lacakt\u0131r. S\u00f6z konusu be\u015f y\u0131ll\u0131k idadiler subaylar\u0131n y\u00f6netiminde olacakt\u0131r. Buralarda Arap\u00e7a, Fars\u00e7a ve Yaz\u0131 dersleri \u00f6\u011frenenler s\u0131navla, yurt d\u0131\u015far\u0131da \u00f6\u011frenim g\u00f6renlerden Arap\u00e7a ve Fars\u00e7a s\u0131navlar\u0131n\u0131 ba\u015faranlar ise do\u011frudan Mekteb-i Harbiye\u2019ye al\u0131nacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0130\u015fte \u0130zmir&#8217;de ilk kez bir okulun &#8220;\u0130dadi&#8221; ad\u0131yla an\u0131lmas\u0131 bu tarihtedir. Ar\u015fivimizde de bulunan belgeye g\u00f6re 12 Ocak 1846 tarihli irade ile \u0130zmir&#8217;de k\u0131\u015flan\u0131n onar\u0131m\u0131 ile birlikte ayr\u0131ca &#8220;mekteb-i idadi&#8221; in\u015fas\u0131n\u0131n da ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilmesi istenir. (Belge yaz\u0131n\u0131n foto\u011fraf\u0131nda 1 numara olarak g\u00f6sterilmi\u015ftir.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00d6te yandan Sultan Abd\u00fclmecid, 1853 y\u0131l\u0131nda &#8220;Mekteb-i idadilere girecek \u00f6\u011frencilerin yaln\u0131zca, Tanzimat sonras\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131lan orta \u00f6\u011frenim kurumlar\u0131 olan r\u00fc\u015fdiyelerden al\u0131nmas\u0131n\u0131&#8221; emreder. Ancak ta\u015frada yeterli say\u0131da r\u00fc\u015fdiye olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131ndan, b\u00f6yle yerlerdeki idadilere \u00f6\u011frenci yeti\u015ftirmek \u00fczere bu okullar\u0131n b\u00fcnyesinde de ihtiyat s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131l\u0131r. Fakat mevcut r\u00fc\u015fdiye mezunlar\u0131 askeriyenin gereksinimini kar\u015f\u0131lay\u0131nca, ta\u015fra idadilerinin ihtiyat s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 kademeli olarak kapat\u0131l\u0131r. \u00d6te yandan \u0130zmir&#8217;deki idadinin a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 i\u00e7in yukar\u0131da karar\u0131n\u0131 belirtti\u011fimiz gerekli bina in\u015fas\u0131 \u00e7e\u015fitli olumsuzluklar sonucu ger\u00e7ekle\u015femez. 18 \u015eubat 1856 tarihinde ilan edilen Islahat Ferman\u0131&#8217;na ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak ayn\u0131 y\u0131l\u0131n Eyl\u00fcl ay\u0131nda saraydan \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131lan yeni bir irade sonucu aceleyle bina yap\u0131m\u0131na ge\u00e7ilir.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yap\u0131n\u0131n in\u015fas\u0131 s\u00fcrerken, 8 Ocak 1858 tarihinde Hac\u0131 Mehmet A\u011fa S\u0131byan Mektebi&#8217;nde, \u00f6zel olarak se\u00e7ilen 54 \u00f6\u011frenci ile \u00f6\u011fretim ba\u015flar. Yine de r\u00fc\u015fdiye d\u00fczeyindeki bu okulun o d\u00f6nemde fazla ra\u011fbet g\u00f6rmedi\u011fini g\u00f6r\u00fcr\u00fcz. 1862 y\u0131l\u0131na gelindi\u011finde okulun ancak 25 \u00f6\u011frencisi vard\u0131r. Bu arada aceleyle ba\u015flat\u0131lan in\u015faat\u0131n ak\u0131beti de belli de\u011fildir. K\u0131\u015fla&#8217;n\u0131n m\u00fc\u015ftemilat b\u00f6l\u00fcmlerinden birinde yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fcz bu yap\u0131da faaliyete ge\u00e7ecek olan okul \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131n da Sultan Abd\u00fclmecid&#8217;in 1861 y\u0131l\u0131nda, gen\u00e7 ya\u015ftaki vefat\u0131 sonras\u0131 aksad\u0131\u011f\u0131 anla\u015f\u0131lmaktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Osmanl\u0131 devletinde, &#8220;medrese&#8221; merkezli klasik ilmiye te\u015fkilat\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131nda kurulmas\u0131na ba\u015flanan &#8220;Bat\u0131 tarz\u0131 okul&#8221; merkezli e\u011fitim sistemi, \u00f6nemli geli\u015fme kaydetmekle birlikte yine de sistemde ciddi eksiklikler vard\u0131r. Bu nedenle 1869 y\u0131l\u0131nda haz\u0131rlanan Maarif-i Um\u00fcmiyye Nizamnamesi ile \u00f6nemli reformlar getirilir. Orta \u00f6\u011fretimin ilk kademesini olu\u015fturmak amac\u0131yla a\u00e7\u0131lan r\u00fc\u015fdiyelerin hem \u0130stanbul hem de ta\u015frada say\u0131lar\u0131 artt\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. Gene de \u0130stanbul\u2019da bir\u00e7ok meslek okulu ve y\u00fcksek okul a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131na ra\u011fmen, Galatasaray Mekteb-i Sultanisi, orta \u00f6\u011fretimin ikinci kademesinde benzeri olmayan tek okul durumundad\u0131r.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00f6z konusu Nizamname sivil y\u00fcksek okullara \u00f6\u011frenci yeti\u015ftirmek \u00fczere r\u00fc\u015fdiyelerin \u00fcst\u00fcnde ve sultanilerin alt\u0131nda idadi ad\u0131yla okullar\u0131n a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6ng\u00f6rmektedir. \u00dcstelik idadilerin a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131, Tanzimat d\u00f6nemi e\u011fitiminin temel unsuru olan &#8220;Osmanl\u0131c\u0131l\u0131k&#8221; ilkesinin hayata ge\u00e7irilmesi i\u00e7in de \u015fartt\u0131r. Bu ilkeye g\u00f6re m\u00fcsl\u00fcman ve gayri m\u00fcslim \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n ayn\u0131 \u00e7at\u0131 alt\u0131nda e\u011fitim almalar\u0131 gerekmektedir. B\u00f6ylece farkl\u0131 \u0131rk ve dinlerden gelen gen\u00e7ler birbirleriyle kayna\u015facak, ayn\u0131 duygular\u0131 payla\u015fan vatanda\u015flar olarak &#8220;Osmanl\u0131 milleti&#8221;nin temelini olu\u015fturacakt\u0131r. Yine nizamnameye g\u00f6re s\u00f6z konusu idadiler, n\u00fcfusu bin haneyi ge\u00e7en yerle\u015fim birimlerinde a\u00e7\u0131lacakt\u0131r. Bunlar\u0131n in\u015faat, personel ve di\u011fer giderleri vilayetlerin maarif sand\u0131klar\u0131ndan kar\u015f\u0131lanacakt\u0131r. Her idadinin yard\u0131mc\u0131lar\u0131yla birlikte alt\u0131\u015far \u00f6\u011fretmeni olacak ve bunlar, \u0130stanbul\u2019daki Dar\u00fclmuallimin-i aliye\u2019den mezun olanlar aras\u0131ndan se\u00e7ilip tayin edilecektir. \u00d6\u011fretim s\u00fcresi \u00fc\u00e7 y\u0131l olan idadilere r\u00fc\u015fdiyelerden mezun olmu\u015f m\u00fcsl\u00fcman ve gayri m\u00fcslim \u00e7ocuklar\u0131 al\u0131narak karma e\u011fitim g\u00f6receklerdir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ancak Maarif-i Um\u00fcmiyye Nizamnamesi ile a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 \u00f6ng\u00f6r\u00fclen idadiler, parasal imkans\u0131zl\u0131k ve \u00f6\u011fretmen yoklu\u011fu nedeniyle bir t\u00fcrl\u00fc a\u00e7\u0131lamaz. \u0130zmir&#8217;de de bu tarihlerde ayn\u0131 sorunlar nedeniyle okul a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmez. \u00d6te yandan bu durum, hedeflenen \u00fc\u00e7 a\u015famal\u0131 \u00f6\u011fretim sisteminin olu\u015fmas\u0131na engel te\u015fkil etmektedir. Bu nedenle Maarif Nezareti, 1873-1874 \u00f6\u011fretim y\u0131l\u0131 ba\u015flar\u0131nda hi\u00e7 olmazsa \u0130stanbul\u2019da ilk sivil idadinin a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 i\u00e7in gerekli haz\u0131rl\u0131klar\u0131 yapmak \u00fczere bir kurul kurar. Dar\u00fclmaarif binas\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131lacak okula tahsis edilir. Kurul ayr\u0131ca, idadilere \u00f6\u011fretmen yeti\u015ftirmek \u00fczere \u0130stanbul\u2019daki Dar\u00fclmuallimin-i aliye\u2019de bir idadi \u015fubesi a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 da \u00f6nerir ve sonunda \u00fclkedeki ilk idadi \u015fubesi 1874 y\u0131l\u0131nda Dar\u00fclmuallimin-i aliye i\u00e7inde hizmete girer. 1876 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar \u0130stanbul\u2019da idadi say\u0131s\u0131 be\u015fe y\u00fckselirken ta\u015frada ilk \u00f6rnek 1875 y\u0131l\u0131nda Yanya&#8217;da a\u00e7\u0131lan Yeni\u015fehir \u0130dadisi olur. Daha \u00f6nce haz\u0131rlanan e\u011fitim program\u0131na g\u00f6re ilk idadilerde okutulan ba\u015fl\u0131ca dersler \u015funlard\u0131r: Kavaidi Osmaniyye, Arabi, Farisi, K\u0131raat ve Kitabet-i T\u00fcrki, Tarih-i Um\u00fcmi-i Osmani, M\u00fckemmel Hesap, Cebr-i ali, Co\u011frafya-y\u0131 Um\u00fcmi-i Osmani, Jimnastik, M\u00fckemmel Hendese, M\u00fcsellesat-\u0131 M\u00fcsteviyye, Resim, Frans\u0131zca, Almanca, \u0130ngilizce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bu arada birka\u00e7 y\u0131l i\u00e7inde \u0130zmir&#8217;de de hem sultani hem de idadi a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 hareketlenir. \u00d6ncelikle uygun binalar sa\u011flanmas\u0131 gerekti\u011finden, \u015fehrin bat\u0131s\u0131nda, Urla&#8217;da bir adaya naklolunan eski karantina binalar\u0131nda e\u011fitim veren Islahhane yan\u0131ndaki arsa sultani binas\u0131 i\u00e7in uygun g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr ve haz\u0131rl\u0131k \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 ba\u015flat\u0131l\u0131r. Merkezde uygun bir yer bulunabilecek idadi i\u00e7in de her nedense Karantina semti d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcl\u00fcr. Dar\u00fcttahsil ad\u0131yla 1882 y\u0131l\u0131nda ba\u015flat\u0131lan okul binas\u0131 in\u015faat\u0131 1884 y\u0131l\u0131 sonlar\u0131nda tamamlan\u0131r. Okul i\u00e7in &#8221; Avrupa&#8217;dan getirilecek edevat\u0131n resm-i g\u00fcmr\u00fckten muafiyeti&#8221; konusunda 15 Kas\u0131m 1882 tarihli bir irade de mevcuttur. (CDA Osmanl\u0131 Ar\u015fivi, \u015eura-y\u0131 Devlet, 2459-52, Hicri 04.01.1300)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bu arada g\u00f6rkemli Sultani binas\u0131 in\u015fas\u0131na da ba\u015flan\u0131r. Konuyla ilgili olarak mevcut belgelerden biri de Yahya Hayati Efendi&#8217;nin, K\u00f6rfez vapurlar\u0131n\u0131 i\u015fletmek i\u00e7in ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 imtiyaz ile ilgili 18 Mart 1883 tarihinde yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 ba\u015fvurudur. Dilek\u00e7e sahibinin, kurmay\u0131 \u00f6nerdi\u011fi anonim \u015firket hakk\u0131nda verdi\u011fi garantiler aras\u0131nda &#8220;\u015eirket kar\u0131n\u0131n %15&#8217;inin yap\u0131m\u0131 s\u00fcren \u0130zmir Mekteb-i Sultanisi&#8221;ne verilmesi de vard\u0131r. 1885 y\u0131l\u0131nda tamamlanan &#8220;Dar\u00fcttahsil&#8217;in bir taraf\u0131n\u0131n mekteb-i idadiye ayr\u0131l\u0131p di\u011fer taraflar\u0131n\u0131n da Ticaret ve Ziraat Mektebi ile Numune \u00c7iftli\u011fi olarak kullan\u0131lmas\u0131&#8221; karar\u0131 da verilir. (CDA Osmanl\u0131 Ar\u015fivi, Maarif Nezareti, Mektubi Kalemi. 85 &#8211; 115, H-28.04.1302 -15 Mart 1885)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ancak bu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnce de uygulanamaz. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011fu Damlac\u0131k&#8217;tan Basmane&#8217;de Kocakap\u0131&#8217;ya kadar uzanan geni\u015f b\u00f6lgede yerle\u015fmi\u015f bulunan \u00f6zellikle T\u00fcrk aileler \u00e7ocuklar\u0131n\u0131 Karantina gibi, kendilerine sapa gelen bir semte g\u00f6ndermek istemezler. Ayn\u0131 sorun daha sonra tamamlanacak Sultani i\u00e7in de ge\u00e7erli olacak ve bu okul da tamamland\u0131\u011f\u0131nda \u00f6\u011frenci bulamayacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Semtin sapa olmas\u0131 nedeniyle aileler idadiye \u00f6\u011frenci g\u00f6ndermedi\u011fi gibi \u015fehrin y\u00f6netimini de ele\u015ftirmeye ba\u015flar. D\u00f6nemin Ayd\u0131n Valisi Hac\u0131 Na\u015fid Pa\u015fa yak\u0131nmalar\u0131 hakl\u0131 bularak, Konak&#8217;taki H\u00fck\u00fcmet Kona\u011f\u0131 yan\u0131nda bulunan Ra\u015fid Pa\u015fa arsas\u0131n\u0131 kamula\u015ft\u0131rarak sat\u0131n ald\u0131rt\u0131r ve bu alan \u00fczerine in\u015fa edilen okul binas\u0131 bir bu\u00e7uk y\u0131lda tamamlan\u0131r. Sonu\u00e7ta \u0130zmir \u0130dadisi, 1886 y\u0131l\u0131 Temmuz ay\u0131nda, \u0130zmir H\u00fck\u00fcmet Kona\u011f\u0131 yan\u0131ndaki binada \u00f6\u011fretime ba\u015flar. On sekiz bin alt\u0131n lira harcanarak yap\u0131lan bu yap\u0131da ilk y\u0131l, 550 \u00f6\u011frenci e\u011fitim g\u00f6r\u00fcr. Abdurrahman Bey&#8217;in m\u00fcd\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 okulda, iki m\u00fcd\u00fcr yard\u0131mc\u0131s\u0131 ve on \u00f6\u011fretmen g\u00f6rev yapmaktad\u0131r. \u0130dadinin, Ke\u00e7eciler semtinde &#8220;\u00c7akmak F\u0131r\u0131n\u0131&#8221; diye bilinen b\u00f6lgede bir de \u015fubesi vard\u0131r. 377 \u00f6\u011frencinin \u00f6\u011frenim g\u00f6rd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc bu okulda bir m\u00fcd\u00fcr, bir m\u00fcd\u00fcr yard\u0131mc\u0131s\u0131 ve alt\u0131 \u00f6\u011fretmen g\u00f6rev yapmaktad\u0131r. Benzer olaylarla 1919-1920 ders y\u0131l\u0131n\u0131 s\u0131k\u0131nt\u0131larla tamamlayan okul, 8 Aral\u0131k 1920 tarihinde i\u015fgal y\u00f6netimince kapat\u0131l\u0131r ve k\u0131sa zaman sonra da i\u015fgal g\u00fc\u00e7leri okul binas\u0131n\u0131 adliye olarak kullanmaya ba\u015flar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0130zmir\u2019in 9 Eyl\u00fcl 1922 g\u00fcn\u00fc ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131 kurtulu\u015f sevincinin hemen ard\u0131ndan H\u00fcseyin Vas\u0131f (\u00c7\u0131nar) Bey, \u0130zmir Milli E\u011fitim M\u00fcd\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc g\u00f6revine atan\u0131r. \u0130zmir\u2019i \u00e7ok iyi bilen Vas\u0131f Bey \u00f6zellikle idadinin yeniden faaliyete ge\u00e7ebilmesi i\u00e7in Ankara\u2019dan ayr\u0131lmadan \u00f6nce bu i\u015fte birlikte \u00e7al\u0131\u015faca\u011f\u0131 arkada\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6zenle se\u00e7er. Esat, Selahattin, Mithat, Hilmi, Hayri ve Nuri beylerden olu\u015fan bu e\u011fitim kadrosunun ba\u015f\u0131nda m\u00fcd\u00fcr olarak R\u0131dvan Nafiz Bey bulunmaktad\u0131r. R\u0131dvan Nafiz Bey \u0130zmir\u2019e gelir gelmez okulun \u00f6\u011fretime ba\u015flamas\u0131 i\u00e7in gerekli \u00f6nlemleri al\u0131r ve Yunanl\u0131lar\u0131n kapatt\u0131\u011f\u0131 okul binas\u0131nda 1 Ekim 1922 tarihinde \u00f6\u011frencilerin kay\u0131t i\u015flemleri ba\u015flar. Ancak bina i\u015fgal s\u0131ras\u0131nda yap\u0131lan de\u011fi\u015fikliklerle art\u0131k okul olarak kullan\u0131lamaz duruma gelmi\u015ftir ve olduk\u00e7a harap haldedir. Bu nedenle \u0130zmir\u2019de okul olarak kullan\u0131labilecek bir yap\u0131 aranmaya ba\u015flan\u0131r. Sonunda daha \u00f6nceleri \u00c7alg\u0131c\u0131ba\u015f\u0131 ya da K\u00fcpecio\u011flu olarak bilinen bir semtin yang\u0131n alan\u0131 i\u00e7inde kalan b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcnde bulunan b\u00fcy\u00fck ta\u015f bir bina uygun bulunur. \u0130\u015fgalden \u00f6nce Evangeliki mektebinin Rum K\u0131z \u015eubesi olarak kullan\u0131lan ve i\u015fgalde Rum Hastanesi\u2019ne d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fclen bu binada 1922 y\u0131l\u0131 Ekim ay\u0131 ilk haftas\u0131 i\u00e7inde inceleme yapan Vas\u0131f bey ve arkada\u015flar\u0131, kap\u0131 ve pencereleri tamamen harap olmu\u015f, e\u015fyas\u0131 ya\u011fmalanm\u0131\u015f ve par\u00e7alanm\u0131\u015f olmas\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131n duvarlar\u0131n ta\u015f i\u015f\u00e7ili\u011finin bozulmamas\u0131 nedeniyle derhal onar\u0131ma ge\u00e7ilmesini kararla\u015ft\u0131r\u0131r. B\u00fcy\u00fck g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fcklerle \u00f6nemli eksiklikler tamamlan\u0131r ve 1922 y\u0131l\u0131 Ekim ay\u0131 sonunda toplam on iki s\u0131n\u0131f\u0131 bulunan okulda derslere ba\u015flan\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1923 y\u0131l\u0131 Ekim ay\u0131nda toplanan I. Heyet-i \u0130lmiye&#8217;nin ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 kararlar do\u011frultusunda \u00fclkemizdeki t\u00fcm sultanilerin ad\u0131 &#8220;lise&#8221;ye \u00e7evrilince okulun yeni ad\u0131 da belli olur: \u0130zmir Erkek Lisesi. O d\u00f6nemlerde liselerin iptidai s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 da vard\u0131r ve okul binas\u0131 yetersiz kald\u0131\u011f\u0131ndan 1923-1924 y\u0131l\u0131nda lisenin iptidai k\u0131sm\u0131 Basmane&#8217;deki Amerikan Mektebi binas\u0131na nakledilir. Bir y\u0131l sonra ise iptidai b\u00f6l\u00fcm Venizelos K\u00f6\u015fk\u00fc olarak da bilinen, i\u015fgal d\u00f6nemi Yunan Genel Valisi Stergiadis&#8217;in kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131 binaya ge\u00e7er. Ayn\u0131 d\u00f6nemde lise binas\u0131na yemekhane, mutfak, bula\u015f\u0131khane in\u015fa edilir ve bah\u00e7e biraz daha geni\u015fletilir. 1926 y\u0131l\u0131nda ise liselerin iptidai k\u0131s\u0131mlar\u0131 kald\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. 15 Ekim 1925 tarihinde okulu ziyaret eden Atat\u00fcrk, b\u00fcy\u00fck yang\u0131n alan\u0131n\u0131 da okulun teras\u0131ndan g\u00f6zlemler. Atat\u00fcrk, 1 \u015eubat 1931 tarihinde okulu ikinci kez ziyaret eder. Bu ziyaretinde ikinci s\u0131n\u0131f Matematik dersine giren Gazi tahtaya kalkm\u0131\u015f olan bir \u00f6\u011frenciye sorular sorar ve ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 yan\u0131tlardan ho\u015fnut kal\u0131r.
